4-H CAMP!! Don't Miss Out on the Summer Fun!

If you are in grades third through eighth, WE WANT YOU for 4-H Camp.  Camp will be held June 16-20 at the Northern Virginia 4-H Educational Center and we're confident this may be the highlight of your summer!  Classes like archery, woodworking, fishing, arts and crafts, outdoor living skills, and high and low ropes courses fill the morning schedule, and daily swimming and free recreation periods are offered each afternoon.  4-H Camp features a dance on the last night and other evening programs such as Gold Rush, Let's Make a Deal, Olympics, and a nightly campfire.

Help Needed! Hosting Costa Rican 4-Hers

We still need three more host families for Costa Rican teens for the time period of July 9 to Aug. 4. Please consider hosting. Time is of the essence in getting the host families finalized so that the Costa Rican kids can get the visas. Northern District Livestock Show

Exhibitors with hogs, sheep, beef and dairy cattle are encouraged to participate in the Northern District Livestock Show on Saturday, May 18, in Culpeper.  A complete rules and entry packet was made available today and is posted on the Culpeper Extension office website.  Entries are due April 12 to the Orange office; we will sign and forward to the show managers.

Camp for you and your Horse!!

Fishing Camp - April 26-28

Culinary Camp at Virginia Tech


Do you have a budding chef or restaurateur looking for an exciting summer experience?  VT Dining Services is hosting a five-day, four-night camp from June 25-29 for students in grades five through eight. Executive chefs and managers will be teaching the basics, including cooking techniques, nutrition, food safety, table etiquette, and more. Activities will include many hands-on demonstrations, tours, and fun evening events. 
Campers will:
  • gain hands-on culinary training;
  • learn to prepare different meals;
  • make their own ice cream, and desserts;
  • learn kitchen and food safety;
  • tour the kitchen facilities, garden, and dairy barn on campus;
  • learn about nutrition and smart shopping;
  • participate in fun evening activities;
  • and much, much more!

Participants must register by May 31.  The program fee is $525 and includes lodging, meals, and evening activities. A $100 deposit is due upon registering for the event.
