Four members of the Madison 4-H Adventure Club travel to Blacksburg on April 28 to participate in the State 4-H Wildlife Habitat Education Program (WHEP) Contest and came back winners. Junior team members Kelly Jarvis, Meghan Ward & Aaron Yowell won top honors. Kelly was also top junior in the state. Brian Metz participated as a Novice and did a great job as well!!
In the WHEP contest youth participants must identify different wildlife species, take a general knowledge quiz about wildlife, evaluate a wildlife habitat and write a management plan and orally defend their plan and their recommendation to a set of judges. Club members have spent months studying and preparing for this contest.
